Facebook hits 1 billion users a month

Facebook recently reached the 1 billion user mark, which consist of the users that use Facebook at least once per month and so are real active users.

One Billion Means...

To put the number 1 billion into some context: this is every seventh person on earth. This is achieved although about 1.3 Billion Chinese people haven’t even got access to the biggest social network on this planet. Mark Zuckerberg commented to the new achievement of his company, on his facebook page:

If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.

Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.

Facebook develops into a more important part in the everyday life and is not just gaining users but also doubters. There are big protests against Facebook’s privacy policy and it’s non-transparency. Facebook also has big problems after it’s recent initial public offering. The shares went falling down since then and there is a lot of criticism coming from investors.

Overall Facebook probably has as many doubters as users and each of us need to think to what extend we want to assist Facebook.

Even after all the problems Facebook have had they are still celebrating this success by releasing a brand video all about chairs, which Mark Zuckerberg said:

For the first time in our history, we’ve made a brand video to express what our place is on this earth.
